10 Man Utd Players Who Should Fear For Their Future

9. Juan Mata

It seems strange to even be contemplating another exit inside a year for such a talented player, especially considering how much Manchester United invested in him ten months ago, but such was the flurry of activity last summer, that it looks as though the diminutive Spaniard€™s days could be numbered at Old Trafford. He finds himself in very much a similar situation as the predicament he endured at Stamford Bridge, with Angel Di Maria performing the role of chief tormentor Oscar in keeping him out of the side. He has a fine goal return for the club, with nine goals since arriving in last year€™s winter transfer window for £37.1 million, but with van Gaal€™s game built on pace and fitness, the guile and fluidity of Mata looks to be deemed as something of a luxury as he finds himself once again relegated to the bench. With South American superstars Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao having arrived in the summer to complement an already tantalising forward line, it would appear that the Spaniard has found himself the odd one out, starting on the bench in four of the last seven games. It€™s hard to believe that it was only two years ago that Mata was lifting the UEFA Champions League, having been voted the Player of the Year at Stamfor Bridge. Perhaps a move overseas to Italy or Spain awaits the hugely talented playmaker, as he looks to force his way back into the international fold?
