In the second of our mini series, we take a look at ten midfielders who have done enough to secure their spot in Roy Hodgson's provisional England squad and one that is set to miss out. With England's 'Golden Generation' drawing to the end of their careers, the Three Lions' midfield for this year's tournament will be an interesting mixture of youth and experience. In a summer where English expectations are lower than they have been for decades, it is surely the perfect opportunity to hand valuable tournament game time to England's future stars. Roy has boldly said that he will pick players based on form rather than reputation, but there's no doubt that he is still a cautious manager and there will be a number of midfielders the wrong side of their 30's in this squad. The changing nature of European and world football dictates that the tried and tested 4-4-2 formation is now outdated and England will most likely set up in Brazil with three attacking midfielders, ahead of two deep lying players protecting the back four.
