Scott Parker was labelled as one of the most promising English midfielders in the Premier League during his time at Charlton Athletic but his move to Chelsea significantly hindered his progress. The central midfielder who signed for the Blues for £10 million was handed a much more defensive role and he no longer looked as fearless and exciting as he had done at the Valley. He was often played out of positon at Stamford Birdge and was sold to Newcastle in 2005 for a reported £6.5 million after just 15 appearances. Parker then impressed on Tyneside before showing his talent at West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.
