10 Most Expensive Man Utd Transfer Flops In History

9. Louis Saha (£12.8 Million)

When fit, Louis Saha was a fantastic striker who had a great mixture of speed, power, and clinical finishing.

Sadly for the French international forward, he more often than not spent the majority of his Manchester United days - and beyond - on the treatment table as injuries mounted up.

Signing from Fulham for just nearly £13 million in early 2004, Saha's United career was off to a flyer when he scored on his debut against Southampton.

In his five years at Old Trafford, though, injuries would mean Saha averaged just 17 league appearances per season - with an average of five goals each campaign.

Not only was this so disappointing for the Red Devils in the sense that there was a genuinely top quality player there, but it was also disappointing to see that hefty £12.8 million investment so often out of action.

When the time did come for Saha to leave Manchester, he moved to Everton for an undisclosed fee. Fortunately for the Toffees, they signed the Frenchman on a pay-as-you-play deal - with him again sadly spending far too many matches unavailable due to injury during his four seasons on Merseyside.
