6. Gogoplata
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR9gpJJ2qTQ A favourite of advanced grappler (and recently banned) Nick Diaz, this hybrid variation of the more commonly engaged Omoplata forces equal pain and breathlessness to the unlucky fighter entangled in its web. A traditional Gogoplata is a bare-bones shoulder lock, but the deeply altered attack move in the UFC has become the popularisation. The fighter exercising the submission is often on the bottom, facing upwards. He or she will take the shin and run it up across the opponent's windpipe. Then the hands are laced together and placed on the back of the head, forcing the neck deep down into the raised knee. This greatly creative hold is one of the meanest in the division. It places an extreme and unrelenting amount of stress upon the neck as the head is buried downwards, and is also choking the fighter out in the process. As the neck is cranked so viciously, there is simply no chance of air reaching, sending the sufferer to sleep or forcing them to tap so they can take a well-earned breath. As chokeholds go, there isn't another across any and all MMA outlets that have quite the same level of deadly precision.
