5. Toe Hold
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgeTkv37LiU One of the most universally feared submission moves across the UFC. Incredibly difficult to defend against and even prepare for, this counterbalanced grapple is so tear-inducingly painful that many broken bones have been an end result. Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir is a total master of this move, proving the big guys are most certainly able to dominate on the canvas as well as the slighter weight divisions. Placing extreme pressure on the leg and foot, the fighter attacking with a toe hold will weigh down on the foot before cranking the ankle, forcing the movement into areas in which the human body isn't really designed to bend. Fractures and breaks to the small joints during the move are common should the recipient attempt to muscle their way through the clinch. Whilst visually it looks quaint and fairly basic, it is actually profusely tricky to engage. No matter how proud a challenger might be, making it to another round at the sake of a bone break isn't worth it.
