10 Most-Pointless Newcastle Signings In The Premier League Era

4. Romain Amalfitano

Newcastle United: 2012-14 Nationality: French Position: Attacking-Midfielder Signed: July 2012 Fee: Free Transfer (from Reims) Appearances (Goals): 5 (0) A classic example of signing the wrong brother. While Morgan Amalfitano has impressed during spells at West Bromwich Albion and West Ham United, Romain failed to make a single Premier League appearance at Newcastle. Signed on a free transfer from Reims in the summer of 2012 in the hope that he would somehow develop into an accomplished player, like his brother, Romain Amalfitano never really got out of the Magpies' development squad. The attacking-midfielder made just five first-team appearances for Newcastle before he was allowed to sign for Dijon, who he had spent a season on loan at, in 2014 on a free transfer.
