The rivalry between two of the most celebrated quarterbacks in the history of the game is always one to savour. New England’s Tom Brady may now boast quadruple Super Bowl rings after winning his fourth in February, leaving Peyton Manning only possessing one from his time in Indianapolis, but this rivalry wasn’t initially built on success.

Their rivalry was always thought to have been built on a mutual respect. But things got a whole lot more personal this off-season. Even if you're not a die-hard NFL follower, you've probably heard about deflatgate? To get to the bottom of the matter, the NFL asked Brady to give up his e-mails that he sent during the time before the AFC Championship game with Indianapolis Colts last season. When these e-mails became public, nothing wholly shocking regarding the deflation of balls was found but one e-mail in particular stood out.

The candid email in question, dated Nov. 1, 2014 -- the Saturday before Brady's Patriots routed Manning's Broncos 43-21 in a Week 9 game in Foxborough, Massachusetts -- blew this rivalry to a whole new personal level. Brady wrote to a childhood friend during an email exchange discussing a decline for Manning in comparing the two quarterbacks. "I've got another 7 or 8 years. He has 2. That's the final chapter. Game on."

Game on indeed.
