10 NFL Players Who Are Having Surprisingly Great Seasons
6. Carson Wentz
Well you knew this was going to come up eventually considering he and another quarterback on this list, were the only thing football talk shows would discuss a couple of weeks ago. To be fair, he completely deserves it. It’s not that he wasn’t expected to be a franchise quarterback, just no one expected him to be as good as he is already.
Wentz was the number 2 overall pick last year, but he came out of North Dakota State, a FCS school. It usually takes players, even from FBS schools, a little while to adjust to the speed of the NFL game, yet he had no issue. His stats aren’t anything too crazy, but what he has done well is maintain efficiency.
He’s completed close to 65% of his passes and has a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 9-5. That has led his surprisingly good Philadelphia Eagles to possibly be playoff contenders this year, something no one outside of Philly expected.
