10. Gabriel Obertan

For a brief four-game spell earlier this campaign, Gabriel Obertan began to look like he could turn into the explosive and pacy player many suspected he would become when Manchester United signed him as a youngster. However, injury curtailed any progress this season and, since he returned in February, Obertan has been hopeless - scared to run at opposing defenders and struggling to impose himself on any game. In fact, despite Newcastle's plight, Obertan has remained sat firmly on the bench for the reversals against Swansea City and Leicester City - proving John Carver simply does not trust the Frenchman to help the Magpies turn things around.
