It's true. In 2009, long before he was a Manchester City idol, Sergio Aguero almost became a Chelsea player. The then-21-year-old striker was playing for Atletico Madrid at the time and the Blues clearly saw the potential as they were willing to pay £40 million for the rising star - which would have then been a British record transfer. The move hit a snag however over Aguero's wage demands. The forward demanded more than £6 million-a-year at the time, and that would have made him Chelsea's highest-paid player. The Blues balked at the demands, and despite meeting the player's agent, Bruno Satin, decided not to pursue the transfer. The Argentinian would get his move to England two years later however, joining City in 2011. Aguero has since become something of a cult figure at the Etihad, scoring a last-second goal against Queens Park Rangers in 2012 to help his new club win their first ever Premier League title, ensuring he will go down as a City legend.
