10 Players You Didn't Know Nearly Signed For AC Milan

10. Luis Fabiano

The 33 year old centre-forward may have packed up his belongings and relocated to his native Brazil two years ago, but if one were to cast their mind back just five years ago, they would be reminded a time of when the most famous footballing nation on the planet€™s star centre-forward was a goal-machine from Seville. Burly, strong and bustling, Fabiano struck 107 goals in 224 appearances for the Spanish side, and notched an impressive total of 28 goals in 48 appearances for the Samba stars. It€™s no surprise that he had attracted the interest of a European giant along the way. Having shone at the 2009 Confederations Cup, bagging the tournament Golden Boot as his nation powered their way to victory, it was Italian giants AC Milan who jumped to the top of the queue for the centre-forward€™s signature. By all accounts, the Brazilian was certainly enamoured by the Rossoneri€™s interest.
''Milan have made an official offer to Sevilla for Luis Fabiano and the player is happy and proud of this. The player has already said that his desire is to play in Milan next season. I don€™t know the amount of the offer, but there is this official offer and it€™s also very significant that the player has said he wants Milan, now it€™s up to the Rossoneri and Sevilla to reach an agreement, then my client and I will speak to Milan. His release clause is ‚30 million but Luis Fabiano has brought an end to a four-year cycle with Sevilla, now Milan is a great opportunity for him.€™€™ - Jose Fuentes, Fabiano€™s agent, July 2009.
A week later, negotiations closed however, as the stubborn Italians refused to up their offer for the 28 year old striker, and ultimately pulled out.
