Jermain Defoe was one of the best up and coming English strikers when an unfortunately poor season saw West Ham relegated in 2003, and him hand in a transfer request. He moved to Tottenham in the 2004 January transfer window and despite being on the fringes of the first team on more than the odd occasion, he has still proven his worth as a top quality finisher. He has since expressed his love for West Ham United and his regret of not staying with us. It's all good saying that now, but I have a feeling he's still going to get more than his fair share of boos the next time he returns to Upton Park.
