Newcastle still retain hope of signing Patrick Bamford on loan next season despite the striker being offered a new five-year deal at Chelsea - and the appointment of Steve McClaren could speed up any potential transfer. Although the Blues have moved to secure Bamford€™s future, Jose Mourinho is believed to be willing to let the 21-year-old go out on loan to gain Premier League experience next season - with Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Everton waiting in the wings. The forward netted 19 goals during 43 appearances while on loan at Middlesbrough last season and he could well become McClaren€™s first signing on Tyneside, should the ex-Derby County boss be confirmed as head coach within the next few days.
