10 Players That Leicester City Could Sign To Avoid Relegation

9. Namaplys Mendy (Nice)

Another midfielder who could possibly take the mantle left behind by Esteban Cambiasso. Mendy again would provide quality competition to Leicester's central midfield after impressing with teams such as Monaco and OGC Nice throughout his relatively short career. The 23 year old plays a defensive-midfield role and would surely be able to marshal a Foxes' defence that conceded 55 goals last season. Capable of a strong tackle, the former under-21 French international may not bring the experience or leadership that the aforementioned Cambiasso possessed but he will give the Midlands club plenty of youth and potential. Leicester City currently have on average the second oldest squad within the Premier League so Mendy would be a welcome addition for Claudio Ranieri and his new club. Mendy has previously played under Ranieri at French giants Monaco and left a huge impression upon his Italian boss, with the 63 year old comparing him to Chelsea legend Claude Makelele. Leicester fans would be ecstatic if Mendy could emulate the inspirational Frenchman if he were to move to the King Power Stadium. However, attempting to lure him to the Midlands could prove to be a difficult task... Mendy currently has two years left on his contract at OGC Nice and does not want to move to Leicester, according to French publication L'Equipe. Nice may also be reluctant to sell one of their crucial components, especially as though Mendy was given the captain's armband on no fewer than 15 times last season in Ligue 1.
