Like Fabio Zamblera and Mehdi Abeid was brought to Newcastle on a tide of expectation: he was to be the real deal, attracting interest from the likes of Everton, Atletico Madrid, Rennes and Le Mans before choosing to join Newcastle with a little persuasive help from Cheick Tiote for some reason. Subsequent reports suggested that the so-called "wonderkid" had also been spotted by AC Milan as a child, and had been offered the chance to head to Italy for a trial, but turned it down to continue his schooling and development in Slovenia, before changing his mind two years later and joining Newcastle. He insisted he was happy with the decision, and has recently pledged to make it at Newcastle, despite limited first-team opportunities and the likelihood of yet another loan to continue his development. Had he been at Milan, there's a good chance that he would now be closer to the first team than he is on Tyneside give their lack of players this summer.
