10 Players Who Probably Regretted Joining Arsenal
10. Lukasz Fabianski (2007-14)
Despite Arsene Wenger being quoted in 2010 as saying that Lukasz Fabianski could one day become the best keeper in the Premier League, the replacement keeper always played second fiddle for the Gunners. During the seven seasons the Pole spent in north London, he was benched behind the likes of Manuel Alumnia, Jens Lehmann and compatriot Wojciech Szczesny.
The Polish goalie's talents were never in question, but some weak performances earlier in his Arsenal career meant Wenger simply never trusted him enough to give him regular league starts unless injury forced his hand. In 2014, Fabianski showed his boss his mettle, saving two penalties in the FA Cup semi-final shootout against Wigan, in the process helping Arsenal go on to end their nine year trophy drought. It may have been this monumental FA cup victory that gave Fabinski the wake-up call he needed, as he announced this month that he had signed with Swansea on a four-year deal.
The keeper was quoted as saying, "If I'm honest, the main reason I came to Swansea was because I want to be the No.1 goalkeeper." He went on to enjoy four solid seasons between the Liberty Stadium's sticks, before the Swans' relegation last season precipitated a move to West Ham this summer.
