10 Players You’ve Never Heard Of Who Could Star At World Cup 2018

8. Ismaila Sarr (Senegal)

Back at the 2010 World Cup, few football fans had ever paid much attention to Asamoah Gyan. He wasn't exactly 'unknown', but he wasn't much of a star, either. In spite of this, he went on to become one of the tournament's most memorable figures, scoring three goals as Ghana made it to the quarter finals.

At the time, Gyan was playing for Ligue 1 club Rennes, who seem to have a bit of a knack for scouting exciting African talents. One of the club's latest acquisitions is Ismaila Sarr, a speedy, technical, Senegalese winger who scored 5 goals for the club this season and helped them into a Europa League qualification spot. Could history repeat itself? Will another Rennes' player catapult himself into the spotlight this summer?

One of the youngest players at the tournament, Sarr can play on either wing or even as a second striker, and is definitely one of Senegal's brightest talents. The African side are making only their second World Cup appearance, but got to the quarter finals in 2002. If you watch any of their games, be sure to keep an eye on Sarr; he's got a lot of tricks up his sleeve and can score some outstanding individual goals.
