2. Roy Nelson Vs. Jared Rosholt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkJHqh0984w Weight Class: Heayweight Could this be the end of the road for fan favourite Roy "Big Country" Nelson? The rotund Ultimate Fighter winner has suffered three straight defeats for the first time in his career, to Mark Hunt, Alistair Overeem, and Josh Barnett. While that's as close to a literal murderer's row as you can get to in the sport of MMA, it's still three straight losses for a fighter pushing forty. While a few years back, a title shot was talked about for Nelson (2012), those days are long gone, and Dana White's dislike of the man doesn't help things. Jared Rosholt (142) is actually ranked one spot below Nelson despite being 6-1 in the promotion and on a three-fight win streak. This is basically a test for Rosholt, to see if he's ready to break into the top ten. It also may be a way of knocking him back down a peg: level of competition speaks volumes, and Rosholt hasn't been fighting the talent Nelson has. The UFC is not a fan of Rosholt's wrestling-heavy style, and Nelson is a fighter who wants to please the fans and swing for the fences. He also has strong jiu-jitsu, which could make Rosholt think twice about shooting for the takedown. Since Nelson rarely uses his ground game, however, it's likely Rosholt shoots anyway. It's also likely that Nelson clips him. Despite fighting to a decision win over Stefan Struve recently, Rosholt is a slower fighter who Nelson can, frankly, hit. As long as he doesn't break his hand in the process yet again, something that possibly cost him his fight against Overeem, and has become a recurring injury for the slugger. Nelson by KO, round one.
