It's been a well worked move from everyone on the team, now the ball has fallen to your man in the box, no way he won't score, your body prepares to leap forward in pure delight, and then, HE MISSES IT! The sitter; we like to re watch them and poke fun after the game but in the heat of the moment it is the most agonising thing that can ever happen to a fan. Of course some are more memorable than others, Ronny Rosenthal is perhaps the most memorable, but Ryan Giggs' hard work at Old Trafford to round the keeper and several defenders then put it over the bar, Kanu for West Brom somehow sending the ball directly upwards from two yards out or Yakubu playing for Nigeria in the 2010 FIFA World Cup putting it wide from very close range. Whoever does it, however it happens, it leaves their fans in a state of disbelief that what you have just witnessed actually happened. Then after the initial shock of it and once the fans begin to come back to reality, hindsight sets in. If he had of scored there we'd be one up right now, we'd be back in the game if that had of gone in etc. But the worst case comes once the game has ended. If your team goes on to get the win regardless of the shooting debacle then its not so bad, but if they drop points and have to settle for a draw or even lose then the 'what ifs' become 'whys'. Why didn't he score? Why did he miss? And of course losing is bad, but when you lose and something like this happened it makes it just that much worse.
