10 Problems Steve McClaren Doesn't Want To Admit About Newcastle

6. Spending £50m Has Not Eradicated The Problems

Spending £50 million on Aleksandar Mitrovic, Florian Thauvin, Chancel Mbemba, Georginio Wijnaldum and Ivan Toney was a pleasant surprise for Newcastle fans but it isn't the answer to Newcastle's problems. Firstly, the manager isn't good enough to manage the personalities that he has acquired and secondly when has signing a handful of players and chucking them all into the first team ever worked? The Magpies have now lost all of their confidence and have developed a losing mentality and if McClaren doesn't correct that against Norwich and Sunderland then he will never be able to. Once more it boils down to Ashley's (or Lee Charnley's) slap-dash decision to appoint a manager who isn't the man to take the club forward (a mistake the club have made each time they have recruited a new coach).
