10 Reasons You SHOULD Care About Super Bowl LIV
2. Two Fresh Teams!
This matchup pits the Kansas City Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers. For the former, it's their first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years, and while the latter aren't exactly strangers to the big game, they have a chance to win their first title in 25 years.
It’s been a long, not to mention cold half century for the Chiefs, mired for far too long in midwestern mediocrity. The 49ers on the other hand, considered NFL royalty throughout their 1980s heyday, are making only their second trip to the Super Bowl since 1995. This means that either way, the victor is assured to have been a long time coming.
Crucially, it’s the first Super Bowl since 2016 that won’t involve the New England Patriots. What we have instead is an apparent harbinger of a fresh new era kickstarted by teams hoping to give their respective fanbases their first taste of success in decades.
Seeing the same old names at the top no doubt grows stale after a while. Well, this isn’t a case of Spain blowing through all footballing competition as they did for years on end, and it’s not the likes of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic competing in the Wimbledon Men’s Final yet again. If you were getting a little bored of Tom Brady and those Patriots, then THIS is the Super Bowl for you!
