Andros Townsend is tipped to have a bright future at White Hart Lane, but it could all have ended before it ever began, as he became embroiled in a training ground spat as a brattish 20 year old in December 2011. The winger had grown unhappy at his lack of first-team action, having been restricted to just seven appearances for Harry Redknapps side, with most coming during the clubs Europa League campaign. With tempers flaring, he subsequently let his emotions get the better of him and became involved in a row with a team-mate during a training match, before being ordered to head back to the training ground to cool off. Towsend did as he was told, but not before angrily kicking over a rubbish bin. It did little to endear him to the Spurs hierarchy, and it fuelled speculation that his name was next on the list of exits during the January transfer window. It certainly looked like he had dealt a swift blow not only to the rubbish bin, but also to any semblance of a future he might have dreamt of carving out in north London. To the contrary, however, just two weeks later, he was instead granted a contract extension tying him to the club until 2016. Perhaps acting like a baby pays off sometimes?
