10 Strangest Arsenal Signings Of All Time

10. Tomas Danilevicius

The fact that Lithuania international Tomas Danilevicius only made three appearances for Arsenal should tell you all you need to know about this signing. The striker joined the Gunners for the 2000/01 season, impressing boss Arsene Wenger during the pre-season campaign, in which he found the net against Spanish giants Barcelona. However, the Lithuanian€'s goal-scoring exploits stopped abruptly there.

In his three appearances for Arsenal, all off the bench, Danilevicius was unable to open his account for the Gunners and was loaned to Dunfermline for the remainder of the season. After his brief spell in Scottish football, the 6ft 2in striker left Arsenal for Belgian side Beveren in July 2001, and he would later go on to play for various Serie A sides, including Livorno and Bologna.

It was a totally different story for the Lithuanian at international level; he is the country's all-time top scorer with 19 goals, and has been appointed head of their FA since retiring. Nonetheless, with just three appearances, no goals and a loan move to Scotland of all places, it's hard to class his time at Highbury as anything but a disaster.
