10 Things Aston Villa Fans Need To Know About Remi Garde

7. He Is Used To Losing Big Players

Aston Villa lost their best two players at the end of the 2014-15 Premier League season. Christian Benteke was sold to Liverpool and Fabian Delph moved to Manchester City and the club still hasn't truly recovered. When Garde was manager at Lyon, from 2011-2014 he worked under Chairman Jean-Michel Aulas, who sold a large portion of his first team players. Key players such as Kim Kallstrom, Jeremy Toulalan, Hugo Lloris, Miralem Pjanic and Dejan Lovren were all sold among others making Garde's time at the club far more difficult then he predecessors. However (as mentioned on the previous page) during his time at Lyon, he still managed to finish in 4th, 3rd and 5th place and obtained a 51.5% win ratio from his 167 games in charge.
