5. When He Tackled James Milner's Knees
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogQ31ergU_8 Chelsea beat Aston Villa 3-0 in the 2010 FA Cup semi-final, in a game that didn't live long in anyone's memory. But Terry nearly made it a very memorable day for James Milner. With Villa looking to launch a counter-attack, Terry lunged in on Milner in a tackle that was nowhere near the ball. Instead he connected with Milner's knee with his studs up. Pause the video at 0:35 and you can see the contact. It's a dreadful tackle, and if the referee hadn't been concentrating on playing advantage, he would surely have sent him off. You can tell that Terry knows he's made a bad tackle because he pretends to be injured afterwards. Tackles like that have been largely stamped out of the game, so it's a surprise that no-one seems to remember this one. Even if he was going for the ball, it's a reckless challenge which could have had far worse consequences for Milner.
