10 Things Man Utd Fans Need To Know About Louis Van Gaal

10. He's Eccentric

When the speculation first started that Louis van Gaal was to replace David Moyes as Manchester United manager, one very unusual story came to light. It involved van Gaal stood in a dressing room with his trousers around his ankles and his nether regions on full display for all to see. The story first emerged in 2011, with former Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni claiming:
€œVan Gaal wanted to make clear to us that he can drop any player from the team. It was all the same to him because, as he said, he had the balls. He demonstrated this literally by dropping his pants. I have never experienced anything like it, it was totally crazy. Luckily I didn€™t see a lot, because I wasn€™t in the front row.€
As crazy and as outlandish as this story may seem, it has been backed up by Mark van Bommel, Bayern's captain at the time, and even van Gaal himself, who has admitted to the eccentric display.
€œI once dropped my pants in front of the entire squad. Because I wanted to make clear: when I make a substitution, I don€™t do so for my own ego, but for the sake of the team. I do everything for the team and I use everything I can to illustrate that. My voice, my mind, and everything else I€™ve got. This shows the strength of our team sprit.€
It looks as though we can certainly expect the unexpected if and when van Gaal is named Manchester United manager, and there could be some... interesting times ahead in the club's dressing room.
