10 Things Man Utd Want You To Forget About Louis Van Gaal
3. He Was Sacked From Bayern Munich In 2011
Manchester United supporters will be stunned how badly Van Gaals last seasons with former clubs seem to have gone, which will certainly sour their expectations of him with their broken club. Van Gaal enjoyed a half-decent spell as manager of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, but his tenure still ended in such similar acrimonious circumstances as the majority of his previous jobs. The Dutchman won one league title in his three seasons at the club, and found himself sacked at the end of the 2010/11 season, with Bayern amassing their lowest Bundesliga points tally (65) since 2007 (60). Bayern had won seven Bundesliga titles in 10 seasons prior to Van Gaals arrival, and the Dutch manager inherited a title-winning team, with FCB having topped the table in 2007/08, before finishing nine points worse off under Van Gaal in his debut campaign. Based on points over the course of the three campaigns, little improvement was made by Van Gaal during his time with The Reds. Bayern suffered 18 league defeats in the three seasons, which is still eight more losses than they have suffered ever since his departure. The club sacked Van Gaal a month before the 2010/11 season came to a close, despite his contract being up in the summer, which further highlighted their desperation to remove him from the club as fast as possible.
