1. His Northampton Teammate Thinks The Magpies Are Getting Toney For Just A Third Of His Value
Toney is said to be arriving at Newcastle United for a reported £500,000, but his former Cobblers teammate Ricky Ravenhill stated last year that he thinks the forward is worth at least the same as the more than £1.3 million fee Huddersfield Town paid for Bradford City's Nahki Wells. And all of this before Toney's magnificent 2014-15 campaign! Speaking to The Northampton Chronicle, Ravenhill said:
"I have played with Nahki Wells at Bradford over the past few years, and people talk about him and about how good he is. Well, Ivan has a good few years on Nahki, and I would put Ivan right up there alongside him now. "That is a big compliment that I can give Ivan, because Nahki has just been sold for £1.5 million or whatever it was, and that is where I would class Ivan. "I rate Ivan right up there. Since I have been here at Northampton, Ivan has always been in and around the first team and you forget how young he is He just seems to be another one of the players, and somebody said to me recently 'he played in the FA Youth Cup this season', he is only a second year. "And I am thinking 'wow, that is frightening'. The boy has everything - and absolutely everything going for him. "He is big, he's strong, he has a good touch, he is good in the air, and he can finish. So I put him right up there."
You couldn't get much more complimentary, could you? So can the boy who has "everything" be a success at St James' Park? Only time will tell... For all the latest NUFC News, Views and Transfers make sure to follow WhatCulture.com/NUFC on Twitter and Facebook.
