10 Things Steven Gerrard Wants Liverpool Fans To Forget
7. He Got Into A Bar Fight Over The Music Being Played
Whilst Gerrard has a well-earned reputation for being an upstanding member of the merseyside community, an inspirational captain, and a role model for the club's legions of young fans, there was an incident in 2008 where he let his fists rather than his feet do all the talking. After a scuffle broke out in a Liverpool nightclub, Gerrard was questioned by police where he claimed there had been an exchange of words with an employee at the bar but little more. However at trial some months later the prosecution alleged that Gerrard asked for control of the CD player by saying: "Here y'are lad. Give me that", but the DJ told him where to go. A few minutes later Gerrard returned to the bar, approached the DJ who was sitting alone, and asked him "who the f*** do you think you are?" before a fight broke out. Gerrard admitted to hitting the man but was later cleared of affray after claiming it was in self-defence. That didn't stop the barrage of jokes emerging online about the potential consequences of telling the Liverpool captain that you won't be playing any Phil Collins that night.
