Widely regarded as one of the greatest defenders on the planet, Uruguayan captain Diego Godin is the sort of player every coach dreams of having in their lineup. With remarkable concentration and composure, Godin never switches off.

At club level, Godin has played an integral role in helping Atlético Madrid earn their status as one of the strongest defensive units, not just in Spain, but in the whole of Europe. He helped the club to two Champions League finals in recent years and has been a thorn in the side of some of the world's greatest attackers over the course of his career.

Godin made his international debut back in 2005 and has played 116 times for his country in total, scoring 8 goals along the way. He's been one of Uruguay's greatest servants, even chipping in with a vital game-winning goal against Italy at the last World Cup. At the age of 32, this is most likely his last World Cup and he'll want to lead his country as far as possible this time around.
