Few football fans are expecting the host nation to excel at this summer's tournament, but if Russia are going to get through to the knockout stages, they'll be hoping that young Aleksandr Golovin can lead the way.

Linked with various big clubs around Europe, Golovin has consistently demonstrated a level of maturity and technique far beyond his young age. The 21-year-old has scored 7 goals in all competitions for CSKA Moscow so far this season and contributed to his team's efforts with a few important assists too.

On the international stage, Golovin has been a key part of Russia's midfield for the last couple of years. He's clearly one of the nation's brightest prospects, capable of controlling games well and creating chances for his teammates, while also tracking back to defend when needed. In short, he's an excellent all-round midfielder and Russia will need him to perform in order to qualify from a tricky group which also features Uruguay and Mohamed Salah's Egypt.
