10 UFC Fighters Who Need To Retire

9. Diego Sanchez

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpUV_uT2_KI The original Ultimate Fighter, Diego Sanchez has been in some serious wars over the years - and that's where the problem begins. Sanchez, with his walk-forward, never back down style, has taken a ton of punishment throughout his career. He's never going to see a title shot at this point, and at 25-7, he has taken a lot of damage despite being only 32 years old. Brutal fights can take years off a fighter's career and even their lives, and it doesn't seem like the trade-off is really worth it for Sanchez at this point. He hasn't developed as a fighter past the Diego Sanchez we know and love - which means that when the going gets tough, he bites down on his mouth guard and walks straight into punches. We love him for his style, we love to see guys stand and bang, but there's a point where it's not worth it. Sanchez, however, is probably the type of guy who will go out on his shield, going down swinging both in the cage and in his career so the speak. He is coming off a win, but prior to that dropped two fights. He has only been TKO'd once in his career, and never KO'd, but that doesn't accurately reflect just how much damage he has taken in his fourteen years as a professional MMA fighter. It won't happen soon, but someone should really plant the seed in the back of Sanchez's mind now.
