10 Worst Harry Redknapp Signings

10. Emmanuel Olisadebe

In December 2005 Redknapp arrived back at Portsmouth, after walking out on a disastrous spell at Southampton, with Pompey fighting relegation. That January he would spend £12 million bringing in nine new players. Some of them worked out pretty well (the club did just enough to confirm their top flight status after all), some of them did not. Very much in the latter column can be found Nigerian-Polish striker Olisadebe. A fine scoring record in Eastern Europe five years earlier was enough to convince Redknapp to part with £150,000 for the player, whose official age was as dubious as his fitness. Four months, two games and no goals into an injury hit spell on the South coast, Olisadebe was released and wound up the rest of his career in Cyprus, China and the Greek second division. The team, meanwhile, would not win a single game through January or February that year.
