11 Extremely Talented Premier League Footballers That Were Ruined By Injuries

One-club man Ledley King is a Tottenham Hotspur fan favourite. The English central defender made 321 appearances for Spurs over a 14 year career. Similarly to Hargreaves, King was plagued by knee troubles later in his career. Now aged 34, it is quite possible that the England international would still be playing top-flight football had he not had such a torrid time with injuries.

In spite of injury troubles, Ledley King would often play on a Saturday having not trained all week. He was often one of the better players on the pitch, and his natural ability meant he was still able to compete with the best in spite of him not being 100% fit.

Former Spurs manager Harry Redknapp once said of King:

"He rarely trains, he mostly just goes to the gym to keep himself ticking over. But not running or anything like that. But even if he only plays 20 games a season, he's worth having because he's so good we have a much better chance of winning."

21 international caps do little to reflect just how naturally gifted King was. Had he not had so much trouble with injuries, you'd have to assume the 2008 League Cup winner would have represented his country at least 50 times.
