5. Trifon Ivanov (The Wolf Man)
Tony Marshall/EMPICS SportTrifon Ivanov - a no-nonsense defender in a mould that is something of a dying breed these days - most notably represented his native Bulgaria at the 1994 World Cup, when they famously reached the semi-finals and finished fourth. Known as "the Bulgarian Wolf", Ivanov sported an unshaven and unkempt appearance and a terrible mullet hairstyle - he really did look like a classic werewolf character.
Universal PicturesIvanov was famous for his long-range free-kicks - he would freely shoot at goal from 40-45 yards out and would regularly come very close to actually scoring. So hard were his shots that you'd think he possessed super-strength in his legs. Maybe he was actually a supernaturally empowered werewolf?! In fact, the Wolf Man in the classic universal movies was, perhaps, not actually quite as scary as the imposing Ivanov.
