6. Roller Sports

The inclusion of a BMX event at the 2008 Olympics was a sign that the IOC were finally beginning to adapt to the times, featuring, for the first time, a sport that could be classified as an extreme sport, increasingly popular across the globe. Though said event is currently just a race, it isnt unfathomable to imagine it being expanded to include a trick event in the future, particularly as both the skiing and snowboarding programmes at the Winter Olympics now contain both half-pipe and slopestyle disciplines. Roller sports, predominantly rollerblading and skateboarding, would go hand-in-hand with such an event, allowing professionals to dazzle crowds with an array of tricks and stunts if an event where individuals are judged on how well they dance with a ribbon is considered fair game, then why not one where individuals are judged for death-defying flips, grabs and grinds? Currently limited to the annual X-Games, such events would expand the appeal of the Olympics to youngsters, giving those who spend their days rolling around in local skate parks something to aim for.
