12 Candidates Who Could Be Sunderland's Next Manager

4. Roberto Di Matteo

Roberto Di Matteo is a bizarre manager, with a bizarre career. He started out at MK Dons and guided them to third place before losing in the Playoffs. He moved on to Championship side West Brom and guided them back to the top flight, before going on to lead them to their best ever start to a season. However, he was shockingly dismissed after a poor spell, but landed on his feet as the caretaker Chelsea manager...and won the Champions League. He got the job permanently, but was sacked controversially again. His latest spell as Schalke was disappointing, after missing out on a Champions League slot, and Di Matteo took it upon himself to resign. He has links to Sunderland DoF Lee Congerton from his Chelsea days, though he was the man who tempted the infamous Tore Andre Flo to come out of retirement to play for MK Dons. And it was Flo's missed penalty that lost them the Playoffs. Can he be trusted?
