12 Most Expensive Transfers In Premier League History

11. Diego Costa - Atletico Madrid To Chelsea (£32 Million)

It's not taken long for this guy to prove his worth. He may look like a 48-year-old man playing for a couple of quid, but Diego Costa can score goals for fun. He proved that last season at Atletico Madrid, where his 27 league goals led them to their first Spanish crown since 1996. His credentials are proven in Europe too, and despite his allegiance issues at international level, Chelsea thought he was well worth the £32 million they paid for him. Jose Mourinho isn't too often wrong when he sees top talent, and Costa's excellent start in Chelsea blue makes us trust that he will be the link they've been missing up front since Didier Drogba dropped below his prime. The Spanish international is a potent finisher who works hard for the team - and in today's market, a player of his calibre is a steal at the price he was bought for.
