14. Everton v Wimbledon 1994
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBO-borMesI The Toffees had been in the top flight for 40 seasons and this number didnt look like becoming 41 when they 3-0 at Leeds United in the penultimate game of the season. This left Everton a point from safety going into the final game though, if they won, survival was possible providing either of Sheffield United, Ipswich Town or Southampton lost. Mike Walker's men started the decider against Wimbledon in the worst possible fashion going 2 behind after 20 minutes. A Graham Stuart penalty and Barry Horne long distance drive levelled it up before Stuart struck the winner with just 9 minutes left. As news filtered through of Sheffield United's demise, scenes of joy were shown live to the nation on BBC Grandstand. Those pictures remain a perfect example of what football means to the everyday life of a fan.
