14 Players To Represent Both Newcastle And West Ham

14. Les Ferdinand

Has there ever been a better player in the air in the Premier League? Perhaps a couple of people may run him close, but Les Ferdinand was simply brilliant when it came to dominating centre-backs. The 17-cap England centre-forward played for Hayes and Queens Park Rangers before Newcastle snapped him up for £6 million in 1995 - and that proved to be an absolute bargain. Another member of the Entertainers team, Ferdinand banged in 41 goals in just 68 league games for the Magpies over two seasons. In fact, Ferdinand and Alan Shearer struck up a prolific partnership despite the scepticism about their compatibility - and they have gone down in Geordie folklore as arguably the greatest striking duo in the club's history.
In 1997, Ferdinand's boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur lured him back to north London for £6 million and then he moved to Upton Park in 2003. Ferdinand returned two goals from 14 league appearances, but he was unable to prevent the Hammers from dropping out of the Premier League.
