The 19-cap Senegal international first moved to England from German side Hoffenheim in 2011, signing for West Ham - who were in a perilous position. Despite netting an impressive seven goals in just 12 Premier League games for the Hammers, Ba was unable to keep the club up - and he instead moved to Newcastle on a free transfer that summer.
