Supporters of Newcastle United and West Ham United alike have fond memories of Demba Ba - because the striker netted important goals for both, even if he couldn't keep the latter in the Premier League in 2011. The 19-cap Senegal international first moved to England from German side Hoffenheim in 2011, signing for West Ham - who were in a perilous position. Despite netting an impressive seven goals in just 12 Premier League games for the Hammers, Ba was unable to keep the club up - and he instead moved to Newcastle on a free transfer that summer.
Ba had a history of dodgy knees and that put some suitors off - but that free transfer proved to be one of the best pieces of business ever done by Newcastle United, with Ba smashing 29 goals in 54 Premier League appearances between 2011 and January 2013. The strawberry-syrup-loving striker helped Newcastle to a top-five finish in 2011-12 - but Chelsea came calling and paid £7 million for his services in January 2013. He has since moved on to Besiktas in Turkey, for who he has bagged 17 goals in 25 games this season. A cracking player.
