15 Biggest Opening Day Shocks in Premier League History

14. Hull City 2-1 Fulham - 2008

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLRRpfW3kv8 A result such as this may not seem like much of a shock six years later, considering the Cottagers have since slipped through the trapdoor into the Championship abyss, but for the Tigers' support, this result meant everything. Never before in their 104 year old history had the northern club tasted even a minute of top-flight action, before Phil Brown miraculously guided them the Championship play-offs in 2008. The sleepy industrial town suddenly had a bit of zest and vervacity injected back into it. With a deafening home support roaring on the Tigers, despite falling behind to an early goal from Fulham's Seol Ki-Hyeon, the Premier League debutants equalised with a fine strike from Brazilian veteran Geovanni, setting the grandstand finish for Irishman Caleb Folan with a headed late winner. The KC Stadium may have been painted as a beacon of euphoria before kick-off - following the former Chesterfield striker's intervention, the supporters were sent into raptures. It was truly a day that will never be forgotten in the history of Hull City AFC.
