15 Mind-Blowing Facts About Wimbledon

10. The Youngest Player

Most 13-year-olds have to make do with watching Wimbledon on TV when they get home from school, or playing on a local court with only a daydream of playing at the All England Club. That was not that case for Mita Kilma, however, who became the youngest player ever at Wimbledon back in 1907. Over 100 years later and it is a record that still hasn€™t been broken, nor does it look likely to be at the moment. Meanwhile, Jennifer Capriati is the youngest player to have been seeded in the competition, when she was just 14 years and 89 days old, and Martina Hingis - aged 15 years and 282 days - became the youngest champion in 1996 when she won the doubles. The youngest men€™s singles champion is Boris Becker, who was 17 years and 227 days. Not bad considering they€™re all around the same age of most ball boys and girls.
