The 1997-98 season did not prove fruitful for Tomasson who, in fairness, was largely played out of position as a striker due to injuries to Alan Shearer and the rest of the forwards, but no Toon fan expected him to star for the likes of AC Milan, Stuttgart, Villarreal and Feyenoord in Europe - that's for certain. As well as claiming the UEFA Champions League, Coppa Italia and Serie A title with AC Milan in 2003, the UEFA Cup and the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord, as well as the Bundesliga in 2006-07, Tomasson also received 112 Denmark caps.
