16 Reasons Why Newcastle Have Gone From Mid-Table Mediocrity To Relegation Fodder
7. The Inability To Beat Teams Who Simply Have Nothing Left To Play For
When there were just six rounds of the Premier League to go, Newcastle looked they had an ideal run-in, with many of the teams they had to face having little-to-nothing left to play for. Yet Newcastle have failed to win a single match. Tottenham Hotspur (lost 3-1) were already in the top seven and with little to play for, Swansea City (lost 3-2) were comfortably mid-table, West Bromwich Albion (drew 1-1) were already safe, while Queens Park Rangers (lost 2-1) were already relegated when the Magpies faced them. And yet the Magpies claimed just a solitary point from that run. If you can't beat sides who have nothing to play for, then who can you beat?
