17 Things Newcastle Fans Need To Know About Aleksandar Mitrovic

17. Mitrovic Is A Tall Striker Who Holds The Ball Up Well... But He Is Also Deceptively Pacey And Can Beat Defenders Both In The Air And On The Floor

It's fair to say that Mitrovic is different to any of the forward options Newcastle currently have at the club. At a fraction more than 6ft 2in tall, he is a big presence up front - unlike Ayoze Perez or Papiss Cisse, and he is far more physical than Emmanuel Riviere. Newcastle would be able to use him in a target man role if they lacked ambition because he holds the ball up well - but he can also play football on the deck. Ian Cathro would not sanction a move for a striker who would prevent him improving Newcastle's technical play and style, but Mitrovic can fit into such a system. Exceptional in the air, Mitrovic is also deceptively pacey for his height and he loves to get in behind defenders - as well as battle them for every header. The Magpies could no longer be accused of being "lightweight" with Mitrovic leading the line.
