Newcastle still retain hope of signing Patrick Bamford on loan next season despite Chelsea having reportedly slapped a £10 million price tag on his head - and the appointment of Steve McClaren could speed up any potential transfer. Should the Magpies not wish to do a permanent deal, however, then Jose Mourinho is believed to be willing to let the 21-year-old go out on loan to gain Premier League experience next season - with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Everton also waiting in the wings. The forward netted 19 goals during 43 appearances while on loan at Middlesbrough last season and he could well become McClaren€™s first signing on Tyneside, should the ex-Derby County boss be confirmed as head coach within the next few days. McClaren took Bamford to the iPro Stadium on loan in 2013-14 and he was keen to renew that deal last summer, only for Boro to swoop in ahead of him. It must be noted, however, that Bamford did become frustrated with life under McClaren at the Rams after being forced to play out wide, so that could yet scupper any potential deal. Considered one of England's brightest young prospects, he could prove to be a major coup for the Magpies.
