20 Incredible Joe Rogan Experience Episodes Every Fight Fan Must Watch

9. JRE MMA Show 31 - Daniel Straus & Joe Schilling

Although fighters who compete inside the UFC are usually considered the best in the world, there are fighters in other promotions who are just as good as the ones who are on the roster of world's biggest MMA promotionr. There was a point in time where former Bellator featherweight champion, Daniel Straus, was one of those fighters, as he regularly competed for the promotion's 145lb title. However, a near-fatal motorcycle accident put him on the shelf for over a year.

Alongside Bellator middleweight striker and Glory kickboxer, Joe Schilling, Straus shared his incredible story of nearly losing his entire career, having to battle through physical therapy so he'd be able to learn how to walk again and then making the brave decision to restart his mixed martial arts career, despite numerous doctors telling him that his fighting days were very much over.

When you listen to Straus recount his long journey back into the Bellator cage, you'll struggle to believe that it's the truth. People aren't supposed to return to combat sports after the type of injuries he sustained, yet through sheer grit and determination, he managed to defy the odds that were firmly stacked up against him.
