25 Worst Premier League Signings Ever
12. Seth Johnson

For anyone looking for a glaring example of Leeds United's horrendous overspending and financial mismanagement under Peter Ridsdale, look no further than Seth Johnson. The story of his signing is legendary in itself in that his agent walked into Ridsdale's office aiming to negotiate a £13k a week contract and leaving with £30k and a £7m transfer fee, with bonuses.
Almost immediately suffering from injury problems, the midfielder only took to the pitch fifty-nine times in four years at Elland Road, and never lit up the Yorkshire skies with his performances. Spending more time on the treatment table than the pitch, Leeds eventually were forced NOT to play him to prevent having to pay more money to Derby County, from who they signed the player from.
A spectacular example of having more money than brains, Leeds cancelled his contract in 2004, and he quietly retired aged 28 after an unsuccessful spell back with Derby in 2007.
